Pudding Time!

Good morning and a massive High Five to all you festive felt fans out there!

I’ve been doing a fair amount of pop-up shops and shows over the past few weeks and one thing that has been selling incredibly well from my Christmas range are the little felt Christmas Puddings.  Whether the Great British Bake Off has made everyone go ga ga for puds, or whether people are just getting back to tradition I have no idea, but the felt puddings are a sure-fire hit this year.

But did you know …..
  • Christmas pudding originated as a 14th century porridge called 'frumenty' that was made of beef and mutton with raisins, currants, prunes, wines and spices. This would often be more like soup and was eaten as a fasting meal in preparation for the Christmas festivities
  • By 1595, frumenty was slowly changing into a plum pudding, having been thickened with eggs, breadcrumbs, dried fruit and given more flavour with the addition of beer and spirits
  • By Victorian times, Christmas Puddings had changed into something similar to the ones that are eaten today
  • Putting a silver coin in the pudding is an age-old custom that is said to bring luck to the person that finds it

So, why don't you make your own needle felted pudding for the tree with our Christmas Pudding kit priced at just £10.00 complete with everything you need to get started and keep up the British tradition!

The Vintage Emporium - Wrapped Bagged and Tagged...

Hello and a very, very warm, woolly and fully felted welcome to the latest edition of the Tigerlily Makes Blog.  Todays post is brought to you by Chief Feltrepreneur Lisa Marie Olson (that's just me! lol)

So I am very excited to be sharing with you today a lovely independent designer/maker team, The Vintage Emporium - Wrapped Bagged and Tagged who have recently purchased some of TM's lovely ethically sourced high quality felting wools! Buying felting wools is not an oddity in my business, but what is really special is what some of our lovely customers create with their woolly bundles.

Well I had Karen one half of this dynamic duo contact me about buying some wool, we exchanged info and a purchase of the bumper pack of wools was made, out it went and within less than a week Karen set to work on a bespoke vintage piece.  So when Karen pointed me to her stunning work that she had created with the merino wool pack I just HAD!!! to share!

So I will leave you with her work pictured below, but do pop by her page and give her a like and a big cheery wave from me, you will not be disappointed and you can find all the info you need there.

Hydsville Tower School Workshop cont...

Goood morning lovely makers creators and all round lovely people, today I thought I would share some more of the amazing works by year 8 pupils at Hydsville Tower School, Hydsville is based in Walsall and is a privately run school which means that this particular school invest heavily in each pupils growth and development.

Their committment to their pupils means that that often use outside resources like mine to give their pupils a varied and enriching programme.

This is the 3rd felt making day I have been asked to run here and there are more scheduled for later in the year.

The pupils are a delight to teach and what I love about teaching any child is the fact that they don't overthink the process they just go with it and produce the most amazing results, but don't take my word for it, see from the examples below.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting!

Introducing Princess Lily the Lamb...

Welcome lovli makers and creators and generally lovli people, today I thought I would share a little something more about me, my name and my history.

Its all in a name: Lily obviously derives from the flower Lily but also means innocent, graceful, beautiful, loyal, smart, and pure. These are atributes that are required when carrying out my right royal adventures, going about my duties in an honourable and respectful way with grace and dignity

Our family history has been traced back so far to 1833, but it is believed to date back as far as the 16th century with some right royal connections. We will keep you posted as developments arrise. We come from a long line of agricultural workers and miners… so it’s really no surprise to me that we have such strong woolly connections. The family moved to the midlands over 40 years ago to find work in the staffordshire area and fell in love with the county.

So heres a picture of me as I am... a "Herman Teddy Toy" and my alter ego preserved timlessly in digital format, you will see the digitised version of myself on all our kit boxes and co-ordinating marketing. You will also hear from me from time to time as I go about my duties and travels and share news and updates with you from around the country and maybe even further afield!

Well I had better dash mummy is calling so I had better be a good little lamb and get back to my duties. Will be sharing some more adventures very soon. Thank you for visiting and come back soon.

Today’s post was brought to you by Lisa Marie Olson on behalf of Princess Lily the Lamb
