Finished Makes From Our Fabulous Felt Slipper Course

It is will great excitement I bring you today's blog post, live from the top of Tigerlily Towers!

You may remember our slipper course from last month and the great fun we all had making our slippers, well luckily I can now share some makes from that day.

Laurie had never felted before, but wanted to learn how to felt as she has her very own flock of sheep! Yes her very own flock of sheep. Laurie and her husband have a farm in Staffordshire as well as having another day job on top. Keeping sheep on their farm meant that the fleece was generally going to waste and so Laurie put her thinking cap on as to how to best utilise this. Laurie came on the course having never done any wet felting before, she had dabbled in needle felting but not wet felting. I think I shall let Laurie's slipper do the talking and you can see you for yourself what beautiful things can be achieved in felt, having not had any previous experience.

Laurie's Finished Slipper - there is another to match!

Another lady that came on the course was the lovely Amanda a very experienced and accomplished crafter. Amanda had wanted to make slippers for such a long time and had even had a go at felting some before she came on the course, but felt (if you pardon the pun) that they weren't quite right. So after a few emails, Amanda decided to book on the course and the results are fabulous. Amanda chose a beautiful colour combination and has finished them with suede slipper soles.

Amanda's Slippers

Thank yo so much to both ladies for letting me share your wonderful creations on my blog. It was a great fun day and I am delighted you have found a new craft.

Glorously Glorious Hand Felted Slippers made by Katherine on a lovely felt making day

Well hello and welcome lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people, today I have a very special share with you... I want to share a pair of hand felted slippers made by the lovely Katherine on a recent Tigerlily Makes felt slipper course.

Katherine has recently found a love of felting so has already enjoyed some of the benefits at home, but nonetheless wanted to give the art of felted slippers ago. As our slipper courses are very popular, I was in the position of getting extra requests for the course, so I decided to run a private slipper course from my home in the midlands. There were just 4 of us including myself and it was a brilliant day of lovely felting with wonderful company and beautifully finished slippers

We had lots of my finished slipper samples on display for people to look at for inspiration, colour combinations and just general shapes so you can imagine the fun we had when we were all trying to decide shapes, finishing embellishments and colour combinations!

I have blogged previously about Shelly's and Sally's slippers, but now I can share with you the finished slippers by Katherine. Katherine is an amazing woman, she has a full time job, carer to hubby, good friend and all round crafty person. Katherine also suffers from joint problems that can be really painful and sometimes it can take a while for Katherine to finish her projects, but finish them she does and with great style.

So below is Katherine's finished pair, lovely colour combinations were chosen and Katherine went for one of my favourite styles the dolly shoe style, she then finished with some handmade flowers that were available to take with her on the day and accompanied them with this beautiful felted leaf duo that she made at home, which I think compliment the slippers beautifully. I have tended to add leaf detail to nearly every one of my felted projects and after seeing Katherine's leaves... I may well just have to take a leaf out of Katherine's book (if you pardon the pun) and add some leaf type detail to a pair of my slippers. But just take a look at these beauties for yourself.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting!

Purple Passion Felted Bowl gets lots of attention...

Hi everyone, well we have seen the end of week 3 and we are now at the start of week 4 in the felt boutique. I thought I would share with you a felt bowl that I made as a sample for custom orders, though it has been getting rather a lot of attention in the boutique and I am sure that I could have sold it several times over. almost everyone who has come in has commented on it and asked if it is for sale.

I guess I thought when setting up the shop that people would be more interested in making it... which they are, but there has been a large number of people expressing a sincere interest to purchase a felted item.  So with that in mind I have been busily making in anticipation of my official opening, sneak peeks to come on those later.

Well its actually my day off today, but I am at home busy doing admin and boring stuff so that I can create when I return to the boutique tomorrow :)
