Finished Makes From Our Fabulous Felt Slipper Course

It is will great excitement I bring you today's blog post, live from the top of Tigerlily Towers!

You may remember our slipper course from last month and the great fun we all had making our slippers, well luckily I can now share some makes from that day.


Laurie had never felted before, but wanted to learn how to felt as she has her very own flock of sheep! Yes her very own flock of sheep. Laurie and her husband have a farm in Staffordshire as well as having another day job on top. Keeping sheep on their farm meant that the fleece was generally going to waste and so Laurie put her thinking cap on as to how to best utilise this. Laurie came on the course having never done any wet felting before, she had dabbled in needle felting but not wet felting. I think I shall let Laurie's slipper do the talking and you can see you for yourself what beautiful things can be achieved in felt, having not had any previous experience.

Another lady that came on the course was the lovely Amanda a very experienced and accomplished crafter. Amanda had wanted to make slippers for such a long time and had even had a go at felting some before she came on the course, but felt (if you pardon the pun) that they weren't quite right. So after a few emails, Amanda decided to book on the course and the results are fabulous. Amanda chose a beautiful colour combination and has finished them with suede slipper soles.

Slippers Course – Bookings Now Being Taken!

 

Everybody loves toastie toes, which is why I am now taking bookings for my next Slippers Course, on Saturday 25^th January!

Held at the stunning Middleton Hall in Tamworth, this one day course is suitable for all abilities. All materials are provided including a pair of slipper lasts that you keep and can use again... as well as tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits to help you through the day.   You will also be given a full set of course notes and after-care instructions. There is also the lunch option for an additional £5.00, at the Courtyard Café.

We start at 10.30 am and by the end of the course, after just 6 hours, you will have your very own pair or hand-made (by you!) felt slippers to take home – once you have made one pair, you’ll be making them for everyone!

• Tigerlily Makes 1st Birthday St Giles Hospice Fundraising event, lots of free demos, raffle prize and fizz reception at 5pm full details of demos coming soon. Saturday 9th April
• Big Green Fair Saturday 16th April many major green activities and green handmade products.
• Newborough Well Dressing Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May where I will be demonstrating the art of felt-making and sharing the benefits of wool craft.
• December sees Tigerlily Makes return to The Clothes Show Live for the 2nd Year Running

Photo Shoot for editorial piece today...

Good morning lovely makers and creators, well today I have a photographer coming to take some updated photos for the follow on editorial going out in Novembers Village Market Newspaper.  So had to get up extra early to groom suitably for a photo shoot, I much rather be behind the camera taking the shots than in front of it... but who am I to argue if people want to take the time to do it!!!

Rosa Rosa Clogs...

Evening everyone, well I just can't wait untill tomorrow to share this news with you as I am just so thrilled with my new website.  My gorgeous husband has re-vamped the website to include a fully functioning shop!!! (though we still have much stock to upload!!) I am absolutely thrilled with the end result and massive thanks to my lovely hubby for all his hard work.

Sues first time felted summer fresh bag.....

Morning everyone, welcome to another stunning first time felt makers make and meet Sue the maker.  Sue came into the boutique a couple of months ago on crutches following an injury,  I was in the middle of a course and Sue was very intrigued by what we were doing... so with injury now on the road to recovery it was time for  Sue to have a her very own felted bag.

I have to say Sue I am thrilled with the results, fantastic summer fresh colours just the ticket to brighten up the summer wardrobe.

What's coming up in The Felt-making Boutique...

Morning everyone, well its just a quick one today as I have much preparation to do for the new felt-making kits I am going to be launching in the boutique in a few months.  So with that in mind I thought I would give you a sneak peak at one of the first.

Pictured above is my very new design the Dolly Daisy Felt Slipper, this is a shape and design that has been popular on courses and therefore will be made into a kit over the next few months. However!! please be patient with me as I have just started the packaging process... I have a great designer who has come up with an mazing and unique solution to packaging the kits in.  at the moment we are in design phase, then we move to production phase and finally we can package what goes into them.

So keep your eye on the blog for progress updates.
