Finished Makes From Our Fabulous Felt Slipper Course

It is will great excitement I bring you today's blog post, live from the top of Tigerlily Towers!

You may remember our slipper course from last month and the great fun we all had making our slippers, well luckily I can now share some makes from that day.

Laurie had never felted before, but wanted to learn how to felt as she has her very own flock of sheep! Yes her very own flock of sheep. Laurie and her husband have a farm in Staffordshire as well as having another day job on top. Keeping sheep on their farm meant that the fleece was generally going to waste and so Laurie put her thinking cap on as to how to best utilise this. Laurie came on the course having never done any wet felting before, she had dabbled in needle felting but not wet felting. I think I shall let Laurie's slipper do the talking and you can see you for yourself what beautiful things can be achieved in felt, having not had any previous experience.

Laurie's Finished Slipper - there is another to match!

Another lady that came on the course was the lovely Amanda a very experienced and accomplished crafter. Amanda had wanted to make slippers for such a long time and had even had a go at felting some before she came on the course, but felt (if you pardon the pun) that they weren't quite right. So after a few emails, Amanda decided to book on the course and the results are fabulous. Amanda chose a beautiful colour combination and has finished them with suede slipper soles.

Thank yo so much to both ladies for letting me share your wonderful creations on my blog. It was a great fun day and I am delighted you have found a new craft.

Home Comforts and Felt Slippers!

Gooooooood morning my lovely felt fans!  Today’s question is all about footwear – how many pairs of shoes do you own?  Of those pairs of shoes, how many do you actually wear on a regular basis, and how many are truly 100% comfortable?

Yes, every day we squeeze our toes into pointy shoes, often with a heel and grimace our way through the day.  For many of us, that first action upon arriving home of kicking off the shoes and the initial “aaaaaggggghhhhhhh” of comfort signals the beginning of the evening – a time to relax and repair, in readiness for doing it all again the next morning.

As we near autumn, the evening temperatures begin to drop and the shops fill with racks of slippers: mules, moccasins, slip-ons, fully soled, open toed ….. you name it, there’s a slipper manufactured in that style!

What could be more rewarding than treating your toes to the comfort of a pair of felt slippers, handmade by YOU!  Following a basic slipper design, but customised and personalised to your taste, join me on 16th November at Hobbycraft Tamworth to make your own pair of felt slippers.  With only 8 places per course, it’s also a great opportunity to take some time out for yourself, meet like-minded crafters and enjoy a day of creativity and socialising.   There’s even tea and cake!

To book your place on the Felt Slippers Course, follow this link  - http://ow.ly/o5i4m - you could even make a pair for someone special as a unique Christmas gift!

Button it Buttons in perfect Partnership with Tigerlily Makes Felt Projects...

Hello and a very warm welcome to you all on this second blog post of the day, I just wanted to share a little follow up post to the one directly below this one. If you have taken a read of the post below you will know that I just adore Button It Buttons, so I thought I would share a few pics of them actually on my felted slippers.

These are the types of slippers that we make on our felt slipper course and they are beautifully finished with Button it Buttons. In fact there are so many different buttons to choose from and so many projects to be adorned with them that you won't be disappointed.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting and of course buttoning up!

Bowdalicious Slippers and slippertastic slipper making courses.

Well hello there lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people! Today I thought I would share with you another pair of finished slipper samples following a recent slipper course... introducing Bowdalicious hand felted slippers.

The slipper course is one of my favourite courses I just love the end result and the fact that you can actually wear them too is most appealing... though I have to admit, I do like to make them just to have sat next to the fire or on the stairs as pretty decoration!

I also wanted to share with you a recent new find in the form of the handmade buttons that I have used to embellish and complete the look. These stunning buttons have been handmade by a lovely lady called Skye of Button It in the Isle of Lewis, not Isle of Skye as I blundered in my courses video blog below! Skye is a wonderfully creative lady and we met quite by accident and have been sharing our creations and working together ever since. Skye has a keen eye for colour, design and also has a little daring streak in her, by putting together combinations that are fun and quirky too. I will share more of her collection in the coming weeks as I now have rather a gorgeous stash and growing collection of Button It buttons.

But for now I will leave you with the finished slippers adorned with beautiful buttons and to say keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting :)

I have another pair just like these! (giggle giggle)

Super feltastic slippertastic course is on today!!

Hi lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people, today I am running the feltastic felt slipper course at Hobbycraft Tamworth.  I am so excited about this course as its one of my favourites and also because its butterfly week at Hobbycraft Tamworth.  Hobbycraft Tamworth have been running a fundraising event all week and today there are lots of activities going on.

Do pop in and say hi and if you want to take a sneak peek around the craft studio door and take a look at what a Tigerlily Makes course looks like, then just for today you will be very welcome. Normally on a course day we would normally squirrel ourselves away in blissful feltiness in our own little world... but for today to help the charity we don't mind if you take a quick look.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeeep felting :)
