Exciting news we are on the move to bigger and better premises...

Hello & welcome from Lisa Marie Olson

Good morning lovely makers and creators I know the blog posts have been a little thin on the ground lately, but that's because exciting things are underfoot!!

We are moving (not too far) to a bigger and better premises, this is great news for all you makers and creators as we will be able to run many more courses and offer more places.

Course will range from felt-making, knitting to felt, crochet and textiles with not only myself but our fabulous team of tutors all of which I will be featuring on the blog over the coming months so you can get to know them more.

On another note the website design is complete and is in the process of being built, its is truly fantastic and will have many features for customers to interact with... stay tuned and watch this space.

My thanks to everyone who has been on a Tigerlily Makes course, there are some new course coming up very soon that have not been run before. The aim is to continue to offer a variety of courses to inspire and to help existing customers develop further within their creative journey.

1st Birthday Charity Fundraiser was a feltastic success part TWO!!

So as promised here is the last of the pictures from our felt-tastic charity fundraiser my thanks to Mary pictured at top and Sally for helping support the day.

as you can see there was lots going on as well as an array of fabulous prizes which are still being collected nearly a week on!!

Next event is Newborough Well Dressing and then the fabulous Susan Crawford and her vintage knits.

Giving Thanks to Chile Miners Rescue

Well this morning as I sit here and wait for the lovely newbie felt-makers to arrive I thought I would take time to reflect on the amazing rescue efforts made for the 33 trapped Chile Miners.

Giving thanks to their strength and courage and that of their rescuers.  I have been closely watching the footage of the rescue mission and have to praise the military precision by which the operation took place.

My grandfather was a miner from the valleys in Wales and moved to the midlands with our family to mine, I can only image what it must have been like for my mum, her sisters/brother and my grandma waiting on his safe return everyday.  So I can't even begin to imagine how it must have been for the close family members of the 33 waiting the long and grueling 69 days, in my opinion they are all hero's.

Some may not understand the importance of their role in society, some may think role is diminished... I feel that that are not praised enough for the hard work and risks they take.  Without men like these our homes and countries wouldn't have the vital resources that some of them need, their role is not to be taken lightly and I give hanks to the fact that all 33 are safe, alive and back with their families.

It's events like these that puts things in perspective and makes you realise that the world is bigger  than just one person and there are bigger and more important issues which fall much higher on the agenda than any problems you think you may have.

So I hope that you will joining me in giving thanks for the safe return of the miners and the wonderful rescue mission of all involved.

Sue's Plum and Green Heartfelt Felt Tea Cosy

Hi all well as promised featured today we have Sues beautiful tea cosy, so sue went for a dotty side and she has her heartfelt side to choose from as well.

We all had such a lovely day and my thanks go out to Janet, Sue and Jacqui for being such wonderful company.

May Half Term Children's Workshop Felt Finger Puppets

Meet Gilly Giraffe designed and created by Guest Artist Ian Whittle a very talented and experienced artist whom we are pleased will be hosting the Tigerlily Makes children's workshops May half term.  Gilly is one of  many designs that your child can make on the day.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 2nd June 2010 1.30pm-4.30pm and costs just £25.00 which includes, 4 hours guided tuition, all materials, refreshments and as many finger puppets as participants can make during the 4 hour session.
