Super feltastic slippertastic course is on today!!

Hi lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people, today I am running the feltastic felt slipper course at Hobbycraft Tamworth.  I am so excited about this course as its one of my favourites and also because its butterfly week at Hobbycraft Tamworth.  Hobbycraft Tamworth have been running a fundraising event all week and today there are lots of activities going on.

Do pop in and say hi and if you want to take a sneak peek around the craft studio door and take a look at what a Tigerlily Makes course looks like, then just for today you will be very welcome. Normally on a course day we would normally squirrel ourselves away in blissful feltiness in our own little world... but for today to help the charity we don't mind if you take a quick look.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeeep felting :)

Princess Lily At The V & A Museum

Wonderfully warm and woolly welcomes to you all today.

Today I am going to share a visit that my wonderfully warm royally appointed parents over at Tigerlily Makes took me on last year to the V & A museum.

Where do I begin? There's so much to say about the V & A, so much history set within one of the most beautiful buildings in the whole of London.

Firstly I should say that the museum is BIG and has several overwhelmingly interesting historical departments, so much so that you will really need to spend the whole day there if not a couple if you can spare it.

Even the staircases are set with beautifully preserved woodwork and amazingly designed floor tiles, mosaics and the like. Not to mention the ceilings, light fittings and architecture - not only in the restaurant but the whole building throughout.

Pictured are just some of the desgin features of the V & A from the Museum rooms themselves to floor tiling and the decandance of the light fittings in the tea rooms.

Lily Takes Tea Fit For A Royal At Packwood House

Good morning and a very happy Friday morning to you all, today Lily takes a "Right Royal" cuppa at Packwood House!

Packwood House was originally 16th-century, yet its interiors were extensively restored between the First and Second world wars by Graham Baron Ash to create a fascinating 20th-century evocation of domestic Tudor architecture. Through its long history the house adopted many styles and features depending on the owner, but has now been restored to its original intent or as closely as would allow.

Packwood House contains a fine collection of 16th-Century textiles and furniture, and the gardens have renowned herbaceous borders and a famous collection of yews.

Packwood also houses one of the most prestigious fine china tea cups & saucer collections rumoured to have been commissioned for one very important lady who just may have been royal - we will let you decide from the pictures!

We are members of the National Trust and get an enormous amount out of our membership. Quite often we take the guided tours and we find this to be so valuable in learning much more about the history behind these great historic houses.

NB Please note that some National Trust properties don't allow you to take photographs inside the house so please always ask permission first.  Many will allow it provided you don't use a flash. I had asked and been given permission to take the internal shot featured here.

How to make felt video tutorial

Hello again peeps, I often get all kinds of responses when I tell people what I do  such as felting! like you mean on a roof? Oh you mean fuzzy felts? or oh yes I have done felting when you boil wool jumpers in the washing machine!!

Well actually although I have by accident shrunk my husbands jumpers on a hot wash! Its actually none of the above.

Both wet and dry felting is done through a process of aggitation of the wool fibres, but wet felting is acheived by not only agitation of the wool but with soap and water.  So I thought I would put a little video tutorial together for those of you who haven't come accross felting before to show you how its done.

Hope you enjoy and keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting!

Newbie Felt Makers make their debut at Tigerlily Towers...

Goooooood Tuesday Morning lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people, well today I thought I would share some of the wonderful new makes from Saturdays Bag/Tea Cosy course at Tigerlily Towers.

It was a brilliant day we started at around 10.30 am with a nice cuppa to get us going, we talked through first stages with a biscuit or two! and before we knew where we were it was time for lunch! after a short break and refueling, we carried on into the afternoon where we drank more tea and ate lovely cake. By 4pm we were in final stages making handles for our bags. We laughed, chatted, learnt new skils and had lots of fun.

So really theres only one thing more left to do and thats share the lovely ladies makes with you... enjoy!

Ita's Lovely Bag Ita is a first Time Felt Maker
Edith's gorgeous Tea Cosy, Edith is also a First Time Felt Maker
Edith's day job is as a business consultant so very different from her crafty alter ego!

Marisa's Gorgeous Spring Time Bag and Marisa is a First Time Felter too!
Liane's Bag, Liane has felted at home herself before coming on the course... but felt that the course would give her a more detailed understanding of what she has come to love. Liane and the ladies took inspiration from the felt bag designs that were on show to help inspire creations from the Tigerlily Makes Ranges.   Liane is a very crafty person and has her own double decker craft bus called SID, where she runs children's parties... I can see she may well have to add some felty fun the schedule.

And last but not least...

Francessca's Bag back View
Francessca's lovely clutch bag created in her favourite colour PURPLE Francessca wanted to add a little of the designer touch to her creation with an elegant no handle tuck under your arm clutch, Francessca chose this cute shape from a range of differently shaped templates on offer at our courses.
