Mr Frost the Needle Felted Snowman

Wonderfully warm and fully felted welcomes to this some what frosty edition of the TM blog.

Although we are far, far away from Christmas I know all too well we creatives like to be well organised and well planned with our Christmas projects. This is why I tend to start my Christmas Makes in June/July.

Well on this Frosty edition of the TM blog I thought it would be appropriate to introduce you to another new character Mr Frost a needle felted sculpture.

Mr Frost like Pennie Penguin has been made with wool fiber and a single felting needle. Mr Frosts design came about a desire to create something a little different in snowman terms as there are many needle felted snowmen around of a similar style.

There are lots of hanging snowmen for the tree, so I felt it was time to create something a little different that could be more of an eye catching stand alone table decoration or just a lovely ornament to have on your mantle.

Like Pennie Penguin Mr Frost did not come to life until his eyes we set in, so I can reassure you once again that Mr Frost was harmed during his creation and he would not have felt a thing!

Without further delay I give you Mr Frost.

Time for Tea... Hand Felted Tea Pot

Well its time to talk TEA and more importantly TEA POTS today on the TM blog. My favorite topic and as I am sure you know by now I LOVE tea, tea pots and all things related to tea, in particularly vintage tea pots.

This hand felted tea pot has been designed by yours truly and is completely seamless! NO sewing involved. It is part of the upcoming tea themed range and already complements Tilly's Tea Cups my hand felted selection of beautifully shaped and styled tea cups.

I can't wait to get designing and making the rest of this range, so stay tuned for new tea themed designs and designs that are unique to Tigerlily Makes!

For now though keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting!

Made to order range now launched...

Wow well where do I start! There are so many exciting new things happening and going on here at Tigerlily Towers, the "Made to Order Range",  new felt courses added to our courses page, new Lily Lamb kit coming in the spring and a new ready made designs! Phew, think I need to sit down!

So I thought I might share one of the new sections and services now available on our "Brand New Website"... have I mentioned this before? I think I may have  (giggle giggle).

One of the frustrations that I had with my previous website, was that it was so costly and time consuming to update with new products or new categories. This meant that when demand was high for ready made versions of my kit samples and I needed to experiment with the ranges to gauge customer interest... I simply couldn't, because I didn't have the appropriate platform to show case them on. Well luckily I do now!

The "Bespoke" range or the "Made to Order range is a section on my website where you can have a number of my designs made to order or to your own specifications. This means that whilst you may have to wait a little longer you have greater flexibility in the finished item.

So I will bid you farewell for now, until next time and leave you with one of the made to order designs. But in the meantime keeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting!

Featured Artist at the Flutterby Art Boutique

Hello lovely makers and creators, I have a real treat for you today, today we are featuring one of the very talented artists in residence at the Flutterby Art Boutique.  The Flutterby Art Boutique is run by the lovely Kate Williams and hosts a wonderful array of high end designer products to purchase along side a whole host of lovely vintage fabrics, haberdashery, antiques and so much more. Its a real treat to visit the boutique, there is ample free parking, lots of classes and groups taking place and a lovely tea room. You can keep up to date on the official Flutterby Boutique fan page and today I thought we would showcase just one of many designers in the boutique.

Introducing the very talented Jenny Rose Mann, Jenny's interest in textiles began in childhood, and has continued into adult life. Jenny currently creates textile panels fusing together felt, fabric and thread together with hand and machine stitching/embroidery. Recent work is based on the design of single stem flowers that stand proud in a flower bed. Jenny often starts with only a visual representation in her head thus allowing the medium to shape the piece. As a result of this and the techniques used, no two pieces can be the same.  Jenny enjoys the journey that is being taking when creating a piece and over time this takes her into new directions being supported by experimentation and new techniques.

And here's just a little taster of the work that is available to purchase at the boutique.

Introducing Dilly's Daffs a Daffodil Handmade Cushion

Hello lovely makers creators and all round lovely people, today I am introducing one of my brand new ranges. Handmade cushions made from the finest wool felt fabric!

Introdcucing Dilly's Daffs a Daffoldil handmade cushion, part of the Dilly's Daffs a Daff range of designs and kits exclusive to Tigerlily Makes. This handmade felt cushion with felt and fabric applique daffodil, is inspired by the beautiful Daffodil Gardens at the National Trust.

Daffodils have been a huge part of our family for many generations and I just simply couldn't wait to to impliment them into my designs.

This handmade cushion is just one in a range of daffodil designs in the Tigerlily Makes family, including the much anticipated Dilly's Daffodil's a Daff felt-making kit, which will make its debut later this year.

So really there's nothing more to tell you about this range, except to leave you with the design itself.
But for now keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting!
