Stop press kitty sits on lap for first time!

Hello lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people!! Well forgive me for a second kitty post this week, but after yesterday's post about our rescue kitty and not being a lap cat... Well knock me down with a feather!!! Our lovely moggy has sat on my lap for the first time today!!

So here I am getting ready wrapped in my bath towel and I literally have to freeze as Sox paws her way onto my lap, a little hesitation follows and then... Ta dah!!! She sits for a fully 10 minutes!! Sadly I twitched my toe and she shot off!!

But nonetheless this is a fanfare and milestone moment for our 5 year old princess!!

Have a great day everyone!

Hello Princess Kitty Sox

Hello lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people... Today I thought I would introduce my gorgeous princess moggy Sox! Sox is a rescue cat, we had her from a teeny tiny kitten... She was living rough with her brother and her mother and sisters had already gone to Kitty heaven as they had all been run over! She was a very nervous kitten but with time and live she has become more approachable. She is still a very nervous cat, she won't sit on your lap, but she will snuggle next to you.

She is called Sox as she has 4 completely white paws against her velvety black coat like she's wearing little ankle socks.

We love her very much, she doesn't stray too far from home and loves to sleep anywhere other than her kitty bed!!

So here she!

Hello lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people, today we are very excited to share with you that Tigerlily Makes very popular Dilly Dally Daisy Tea Cosy Kit has been featured on the front cover of Craft Focus Magazine! Craft Focus is a craft industry magazine for retailers in the craft industry to engage with sellers and keep up to day with all the latest craft industry news.

So you can image the excitement here at Tigerlily Towers, when we were alerted to the fact that Dilly Dally Daisy had made it to the front cover! Not only did Dilly Dally Daisy make it to the front cover but two of our other kits along with Dilly Dally Daisy have been featured within the magazine too!

Cushions O Gloriously Glorious Handmade Cushions!!!

Hello lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people!! Welcome to the very latest's and up to the minute edition of the Tigerlily Makes blog.

Here at Tigerlily Towers, we pride ourselves on excellent craftsmanship, not only in the designs we produce but in supporting those in our industry sector, so today I wanted to share with you some amazing handmade cushions.  2 are made with tweed one welsh tweed the other Harris tweed and 3 completely hand knitted cushions that were a custom made especially for our Chief Feltreprenuer.

Firstly the green and purple button tweed was a lovely find on a holiday in a village gallery, its made with beautiful welsh tweed and I love the simplicity of using simply elegant design with the natural texture of the fabric.

The second cushion is the little cushion in next to the green one with my name on it... this was a gift and was handmade especially for me by my wonderfully talented friend Skye. I just love the work and detail in this cushion and its something I really treasure. Skye makes all manner of things including some amazing buttons, you can see more of her amazing work on her facebook page

Last but not least the amazingly talented Lesley at Sweet Little Knitted Things who again gifted me these beautiful cushions!! BUT I have to say the whole process was amazing from start to finish. Lesley (Sweet Little Knitted Things) having been knitting for some 50+ years of her life know her knits!! What Lesley doesn't know about knitting isn't worth knowing.

So Lesley (Sweet Little Knitted Things) came to visit and she brought along a family heirloom in the form of this amazingly hand crafted, hand knitted patchwork blanket. This blanket I have to say is visually stunning... it has  beautiful colours you could want and each patchwork piece has been loving crafted to create a bespoke knitted designs on it. What was lovely was that I could literally choose from copious amounts of colour ways and pick and choose which knitted stich I wanted in what format on which ever cushion I chose. It was the most liberating process.  You can keep up to date with Lesley on her Sweet Little Knitted Things facebook page.  A little time later 3 cushions appeared in my selected colour ways and designs. So lets not talk about them any more lets just see them in all their glory.

Titch Design was set up in 2012 after designer Rachel Wiseman (aka Titch) graduated from university with a first class BA Hons degree in Graphic Design. The lack of job opportunities made her decide to create her own job! She took a chance and decided to embark on an adventure…Titch set up her own company and is now doing what she enjoys best creating, producing and selling her own designs.

Titch Design produces unique hand designed products, mainly paper related; including greeting cards, gift wrap, notepads, framed prints, memo blocks, small gifts including pocket mirrors and badges to name just a few of her items. Titch is inspired by a huge variety of things and when inspiration strikes she just goes with it! One thing that is very clear in her designs is that she absolutely loves colour! Titch is continuously working on new designs, products and ideas…there is always a long list on the go of what to do next. Titch Design strives to be and is extremely proud to be 100% British designed and made!

Titch Design was thrilled to be selected to have space to showcase her work in the Flutterby ArtBoutique, Curborough Craft Centre. A brilliant opportunity to sell her products along side many other talented designer makers in a fabulous little boutique.

Gluten Free Baking Book... A real treat.

Hello lovely makers creators and all round lovely people.

Today's post is a little different as I wanted to share a new baking book my hubby bought me recently. It's all about gluten free/wheat free baking.

For those of you who know me well you will know I have suffered with a long standing wheat allergy. So this always means that many foods are out if reach and in particular lovely cakes are always a no, no.

Well I have to say that this new book is a revelation in wheat free/gluten free baking. There are just tons of recipes that are safe and delicious, just one thing to point out is that the book does allow the use of liqueurs/spirit which is fine if you are gluten free as the gluten dissolves in the distilling process. BUT many spirits are made from grains so if its wheat rather than gluten your allergic to I would avoid those recipes with spirits in them.

Anyway here's a little preview of some of the lovely deserts/puddings.

Todays Featured Artist at the Flutterby Art Boutique

Hello lovely makers and creators we we have another treat for you today as we feature another talented artist at the fabulous Flutterby Art Boutique run by Kate Williams bringing local talent together.

Today we feature Pat Wilkes and this is what Pat has to say about her creative journey...

"I have been crafting from a very early age, my mom taught me how to knit and crochet and I love anything creative. Over the years I have made jewellery, cards, scrapbooks and also textile projects. I still make cards and jewellery but tend to have settled on the keepsake and gift market.

My passion at the moment is vintage linens and vintage wooden items which can be up cycled and made into something unique and beautiful, giving them a new life in this modern world. I think I am at my happiest when I am creating a new piece, but I can be my own worst critic like most creative people.

I am so happy to now have some of my stock at the Flutterby Art Boutique at CurboroughCraft Centre something I never thought would ever happen, a complete dream come true."

You can keep up to date on the official Flutterby Boutique fan page and today I thought we would showcase just one of many designers in the boutique.

Introducing the very talented Jenny Rose Mann, Jenny's interest in textiles began in childhood, and has continued into adult life. Jenny currently creates textile panels fusing together felt, fabric and thread together with hand and machine stitching/embroidery. Recent work is based on the design of single stem flowers that stand proud in a flower bed. Jenny often starts with only a visual representation in her head thus allowing the medium to shape the piece. As a result of this and the techniques used, no two pieces can be the same.  Jenny enjoys the journey that is being taking when creating a piece and over time this takes her into new directions being supported by experimentation and new techniques.

And here's just a little taster of the work that is available to purchase at the boutique.

Where's Lily Been Recently?

Good day to all you lovely makers, creators and generally lovely woolly people out there. Today I thought I would share one of my recent visits to Attingham Park in Shropshire.
Attingham Park was built for the 1st Lord Berwick in 1785. It was owned by the same family for more than 160 years. Sadly thier ownership of the estate was to prove a problematic one due to some of its occupants lavish ways and lifestyle, resulting in one occupant having to sell off all his furniture to pay his debts. The atmospheric dining room, set for an evening banquet, and the contrasting decoration of the delicate feminine Boudoir are just some of the highlights of the estate. The walled garden and many park walks offer great ways to explore the landscape. The mansion, set in beautiful parkland designed to impress, is at the heart of this great estate between Shrewsbury and the River Severn.

Why do I love this property?  Well, because its a hidden gem in an unexpected location and is run and preserved by the National Trust. We are National Trust members and we are passionate about preserving our national heritage and historic landmarks. Why is this so important? Well because we are one of the few countries that have such a long and impressive history and forms part of the culture, fabric and makeup of a united nation today.
The very grand front entrance - Only the best will do for Princess Lily

In order to understand who we are today we must understand where we have come from.

My thanks to the National Trust for providing opprotunities to connect with our heritage and past.

Kit of the week is...Tilly Little's Boutique Bunting Childrens Kit

Hi everyone, just a quick one today, I just wanted to share with you our super clothes bunting kit that has gone down a storm!

Tilly Little's Boutique Bunting kit has everything you need to make a super 2 meter length of pretty clothing bunting.  Complete with all the lovely wools, twine, mini pegs, beads, clothing templates, small felting mat, netting and full colour photographic step by step brochure to take you through all the steps.

Not only have the children been enjoying it but parents too, some of the parents have been splitting the parts up to make a collection of co-ordinated boxed frames for their girls bedrooms! Mums have been breaking them down into sections complete with the twine and mini pegs. Brilliant idea.

So there's only one thing left to do and that's leave you with this weeks star kit.
But for now keeeeeeeeep felting!

Lily's First Camper Van Adventures .....

Gloriously glorious camping adventures for our right royal princess, but not just any camping, you understand!! Oh no, only the best camper van hire will do for our princess!
So July (2011) myself (Lisa) hubby (Phil) and Princess Lily all headed off to Pembrokeshire to collect our stunning camper van from Pembrokeshire Classic Campers.
Guess what!!  Our camper van was also called Lily so I knew that we would be off to a great start!

When we arrived we were shown to our camper by Sandra Douglas, the owner. Sandra produced the most luxurious camper - it was cleaned and polished to within an inch of its life. Following the inspection we were given a full and thorough brief on how to work everything including the internal heaters for our great British cool nights.

We had one of the best weeks that we have ever had and will be going back to try out Daisy, the other camper van, very soon.
You can keep up to date with the premier camper van hire on the official Facebook page and in the meantime we will be back very soon with one of our sisters classically camper inspired designs.

But for now "Carry on Glamping!
