An Interview with Serendipity Candles, bringing glamour and ethical products together in harmony...
Good Morning lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people, todays
post is a little different. Today I thought I would share a recent interview
that I had the privilege of being involved in with the founder and creator of
the Handmade Boutique. As many of you
know I have been asked to join this talented chorus of designs and so asked the
founder to tell us her story and this is how it goes.
So firstly can I ask who you are and where you are?
A: My name is Tracie and my business is Serendipity Candles, I am also
the founder of Handmade Boutique which was initially set up as a 14 week Pop-Up
Shop last September in The Mailbox, Birmingham, housing 17 Midlands based
Designer makers. It was such a success that we are now opening again as a
permanent Boutique in July at The Great Western Arcade, Birmingham .
What is that you specifically do and when did you start?
A: I started making Soya Candles in Vintage crockery last year just for
myself as I love fragranced candles burning at home. A few of my friends asked
me to make some for them and so I looked into doing a Handmade Event to see how
they sold to the general public. I had such a great response with my first
event that it encouraged me to carry on making and developing the range to
create the business that I have now.
What would you say is uniquely different about what you do?
A: Serendipity Candles combine elegant vintage styling with beautifully scented soya wax candles to create that perfect gift for someone special or to add a touch of luxury to your home. I source the finest vintage china and glassware around to perfectly complement the long-lasting, lovingly produced candles.
Can you us more about the candles themselves?
A: Serendipity Candles are created from 100% natural soya wax which allows the scents of the natural fragrance oils to fill your home with a beautiful, pure aroma, all our Candles are hand poured. When the candle is finished, you’ll have the stunning container to use for many years to come.
I have worked hard to
develop my brand over the last 12 months and now have 17 stockists nationwide
which is very exciting. I look forward to sharing with you new developments and
opportunities as they come along. I will also be sharing with you the products
that will be featured in Handmade Boutique.

Today we feature Pat Wilkes and this is what Pat has to say about her creative journey...
"I have been
crafting from a very early age, my mom taught me how to knit and crochet and I
love anything creative. Over the years I have made jewellery, cards, scrapbooks
and also textile projects. I still make cards and jewellery but tend to have
settled on the keepsake and gift market.
My passion
at the moment is vintage linens and vintage wooden items which can be up cycled
and made into something unique and beautiful, giving them a new life in this
modern world. I think I am at my happiest when I am creating a new piece, but I
can be my own worst critic like most creative people.
I am so
happy to now have some of my stock at the Flutterby Art Boutique at CurboroughCraft Centre something I never thought would ever happen, a complete dream come
true."

International Craft Hobby & Stitch Trade Show
Hello lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people... my apologies for being a little on the quiet side this week! BUT!! as you can probably guess from today's blog title, we have been at the ICHF show for 3 days, which has been mega full on!
I have to say that it was only this time last year that I did my first ever trade show, I was a little nervous to begin with, but soon was put at ease by the amazing wonderfully warm and encouraging comments that were made about my designs, stand and by the orders that came in.
Well this year we were back having only been supplying to the trade for just one short year and having learnt so much along the way!
Oh my goodness, as I said last year was brill, but this year was even better!! We had a full on packed stand for the most part of the show and literally 100s per day visited. So I thought I wold share a few pictures of my stand so you can see for yourself what people loved about it.
We worked very hard this year to make sure that we carried out our timeless classic and very vintage style all the way through to our stand display.
What really was the icing on the cake... was to see my old City and Guilds Tutor who came to see us and the stand, to see her sooo proud of what I had achieved from that course to this was just so, so humbling. Thank you Brenda for all your support then and now at The Old Needle Works, where you are exhibiting my work!! Thank YOU!
Hope you like as much as we do.
But for now!! Keeeeeeeeeeeep felting :)
