Featured Kit this Week Dilly Dally Daisy Tea Cosy Kit

Well hello felt fans, happy Monday to you all! Today I thought I would share with you one of our most desired kits the Dilly Dally Tea Cosy Kit.

With the Royal Wedding, Jubilee, Olympics and of course the Royal birth, there really has never been a better time to participate in our quintessentially "British" tradition of a right good cuppa! Made in a very proper way with tea pot and kept warm in a beautifully handmade by you felt tea cosy, what could be a better way to spend time with you friends and family than over the great tradition of afternoon tea.

So with that said I thought I would leave you with a little video on our lovely Dilly Dally Daisy kit.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep felting :)

Princess Lily Takes Afternoon Tea

It’s a hard life, being a woolly Princess Lily, so what’s a lamb to do in order to re-charge those batteries?  Afternoon tea, of course!

The British tradition of afternoon tea began in the early 19th Century, when Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford took to having a pot of tea and a light snack, privately in her boudoir, to stave off “that sinking feeling” between meals.  Over time, the Duchess would invite friends to join her in her rooms at Woburn Abbey, and on returning to London, the Duchess continued to invite friends to join her for “tea and a walking the fields”.

As word spread of Anna’s afternoon tea sessions, hostesses in fashionable society soon copied the Duchess, with afternoon tea moving into Drawing Rooms, ever growing in their popularity.

Nowadays, traditional afternoon tea tends to be saved for high days and holidays, and regularly enjoyed by the thousands of tourists who want to experience a taste of true England – as well as our very own Princes Lily, of course!

The terms “high tea” and “low tea” derive from the height of the tables that the tea was served on, with high tea being served at the dinner table

  • A traditional Afternoon Tea at The Ritz Hotel in London starts at £45.00 per person

  • 80% of office workers now claim they find out more about what's going on at work over a cup of tea than in any other way

  • Tea contains half the amount of caffeine found in coffee.

  • Every year, the town of Fish Creek in Victoria, Australia, has its very own Tea Cosy Festival!  If you would like to try your hand at making your very own Tea Cosy, follow http://ow.ly/njDpn

Introducing Regalily's Time for Afternoon Tea Tea Cosy Kit...

Gooooooood morning lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people! Today I thought I would give you the first peek at one of my brand new felt making kits.  Its regally inspired as you will probably guess from the title... and features 4 stunning roses, these rose are a brand spanking new rose design exclusive to Tigerlily Makes.  Designed by Lisa Marie Olson (that's me) AKA Miss Tigerlily and are a stunning and realistic representation of Miss Tigerlily's passion for all things floral.  The rose itself has been developed and designed to be made effectively and easily, so this makes it very unique not only in look but by the way it is constructed.

As many of you know Miss Tigerlily is a published and accredited paper crafts demonstrator and is well know for mixing paper and textiles together.  This particular rose has been adapted from an old paper craft technique that Miss Tigerlily Developed many years ago. So drawing on her previous years experience of both paper craft and textiles, Miss Tigerlily has breathed new life into this signature rose.

This is then combined with another Miss T passion and that is tea, so a tea cosy and very properly done roses are the perfect combination! Add to that the regency style stripe and you have all the makings of an afternoon tea delight.

This kit is not on the website just yet as my lovely web developer is hard at it, making all the changes for all the new kits we are currently launching! BUT you can email to order yours now info@tigerlilymakes.co.uk.

But for now keeeeeeeeeeep felting!
