Nottingham Hospice provide Care Services for their community from the Daycare facility in the heart of Nottingham, and through their Hospice at Home service within the patients’ own homes. The primary aim is to provide ever improving, free professional Daycare and Homecare for all patients over the age of eighteen within the Nottingham area, in order that patients may live their lives as fully as possible and be able to die with peace and dignity.
It costs £2.5 million to run the hospice a year. Of this, approximately 30% comes from NHS Nottinghamshire and the remaining £1.8 million has to be raised from donations, fundraising activities and events, the Hospice Lottery and through the Hospice shops.
The hospice have a great range of charity cards online which can be viewed by clicking here.
This year they are hosting the Christmas Santa Stroll event for the whole family as follows
Nottingham City Centre- Starting and Finishing at Nottingham Castle Sunday 5th December 2010 - Registration starts at 10am, Walk starts at 11:30am.
This will be Nottingham Hospices first ever sponsored Santa Stroll event which starts and finishes at Nottingham Castle. It's a short stroll (1 mile) through the City of Nottingham with everyone following Santa’s sleigh dressed as Santa!
I hope that many of you will be able to support this worthy cause as its something we may all need at some point or other in our lives.

Featured Artist Russell Wilson with his Knitting Hill Cards for Clintons
Well today we have a treat for you... several months ago a lovely young man came into the felt boutique to buy some wool to finish off a needle felting project he was doing for Clinton's cards. It was all top secret and we couldn't let on what was going on, as all the characters had to be physically made and approved before going to press.
Well I am very happy to say that the process has now been completed, all the needle felted characters chosen and immortalized in print... I think you will agree from the photos above that the results are breathtaking.
The collection is called Knitting Hill cards and there are forty different designs in selected Clinton's stores right now, so get yourself on down and see them all up close and personal. There are quite unlike anything I have ever seen before and I am absolutely thrilled for Russell.
My thanks to Russell for giving me the opportunity to share this new collection with you.

Sneak Peep at another Felt Kit for the launch at The Clothes Show...
Morning lovelies, just thought I would give you a sneak peep at one of the new felt-making kits I will be launching at The Clothes Show Live this year.
Introducing Little Nerisa Merissa, Nerisa Merissa Means at sea and it's my love of the coast and all things nautical that inspired this make. As a child I was fortunate enough to have grandparents that lived in Brighton very close to the sea, we often went to Brighton beach with a picnic for the day where the colours seemed to be beautiful tones of taupe duck egg and grey from the faded wood piers.
Of course the flowers are not particularly nautical, but anyone who knows me knows that I have had a long standing love affair with roses, from the Bianca roses I had on my wedding day to the daisies and/roses I have used in my fabric bag designs and my card making/scrap-booking.
Hope you like :)

Saturdays Featured Seller Climbing Tikes
Images courtesy of Climbing Tikes and subject to copyright
Introducing Gavin and Hannah Pearce husband and wife team from Essex and their fabulous concept for todays children.
Climbing Tikes is an Essex based business and has been set up by a husband and wife team who know just how important it is to encourage our children to play outdoors. As a family business you can expect to see an excellent service and most certainly you will not be treated as a number.
Climbing Tikes frames have been sourced from a very reliable European manufacturer and are not the flimsy overpriced product that can be seen in most garden centres or high street toy shops. Climbing Tikes are the sole distributor of this product in the UK and can offer excellent deals on delivery and even assembly if required.
When I first discovered this company it was like a light bulb moment... of course this is what we need to get our children away from the front of the TV and computer games and out having fun, learning vital skills for the future.
It has long been a worry of mine that due to the TV and gaming age that we are all in, even down to the very little ones toys... that children are not getting enough opportunity to explore and be creative in the way that perhaps our generation was. When we were children we would go out first thing in the morning with a packed lunch and come bag just before dark, we would clime, run, play and explore whilst setting our imaginations free.
Due to the growing influence of gaming and of course the ever apparent danger that our children are no longer safe to play out all day unsupervised as perhaps we were, children are being less creative through no fault of their own or their parents. As a creative in a creative industry we are just not seeing enough creative playtime with the youngsters and this concerns me for our future and our future generations... if we continue in this vain we will have a next generation of very tech savvy people but potentially with a lack of creative resurgence.
For me Climbing Tikes is the ideal solution, it provides all the elements that we as children would have encountered yet within the safety of the back garden. If yo do one thing this winter for your children, take a look at Climbing Tikes you will not be disappointed. Gavin and Hannah will be only to happy to answer any questions, you can contact them via email: info@climbingtikes.co.uk
