Finally and last  but not least Sandra's beautiful duck egg and taupe bag, Sandra's bag has 2 lovely cream layers on the inside with contrasting duck egg spots and the taupe with spots to finish.

All the ladies on the private course did wonderful things with the inside designs of their bags and a lovely day was had by all.

If you are thinking about coming on a course but haven't yet made your mind up why don't you check out the Tigerlily makes review page here.

More fabulous bag making by first time felt makers

Hi everyone, today I am starting with showcasing a bag made by first time felt maker Sue attended as part of a privately booked party and over the next few posts I will be showcasing all the makes in the group.

Sue like many who have been on the course had not felted anything before, pictured above is the fab and funky handbag sue made, coming on a Tigerlily Makes course meant that Sue had several bag shapes o choose from and had full input in colour and design and finishing touches.  Add to that lovely teas, cakes, biscuits and lovely company, what more could we girlie's need.

First time felt-maker creates stunning bag

Morning everyone, well apologies for not blogging for a few days, preparations for the new courses are underway and have taken up most of my time.

Today I wanted to share with you the bag that first time felt-maker Claire has made, I think its simply stunning and I know Claire is thrilled with it as she has been back in the Boutique with the bag.  Claire decided that she was going to make a bag that could be used both day or for a casual night out, so this size is the perfect size to do both.

Over he next few posts I will be featuring day by day various bags made by some of our groups as well as pics of the very successful finger puppet workshops.

The Autumn/Winter course list has now been released and can be viewed by clicking on the courses link to the left of the page.

The release has gone with a bang and some courses are already fully booked, so if you would like to come and spend a fun day and create your very own masterpiece please contact Lisa on 0845 543 9046 or email: info@tigerlilymakes.co.uk

Feeling with Felt Group 1st Thursday of every Month

Hi everyone,  Just wanted to share with your the new feeling with felt social group that we are running on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm-9pm (ish).  Starting Thursday 2nd September

The cost is just £5.00 plus the cost of any materials used, the idea is that like minded people come together to share their experiences whilst working on projects and developing their felting skills.

Lovely teas and biscuits will be included in the subscription fee. There is no monthly subscription you can drop in or out when ever you like.

The idea of the monthly meet is not to run a structured course but for you to experiment and try new techniques.

We will be running more structured Mini Evening Courses at a  later date.

Wet Felted Needle Felted Pictures Jackie's Tuscan Delight

Hi everyone, well apologies for the late coming in this post its been a hive of activity here at the boutique. Last week saw the last of the summer picture courses and what an end to the series.  Once again we all had a great time, eating lovely cakes, chatting and giggling a lot.

More importantly we made some fantastic pictures, here is Jackie's Tuscan delight... simply stunning.  Again Jackie had not done a wet felted-needle embellished picture before, however I think you will agree its simply beautiful.  Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery before I could finish taking everyone's masterpiece so stay tuned for updates.

The new winter courses have been released and are on the website, they have gained much interest particularly the cobweb scarves and hats, places have begun already to get booked up... so if you fancy a lovely day of felt-making I would recommend you book soon .

GI HIGH ENERGY COOK BOOK Rachael Anne Hill

Morning everyone, I thought I would share something a little different with you this morning.  I wanted to share this fantastic recipe  book by Rachael Anne Hill, its all about eating low GI foods to help with weight loss, increase energy levels and manage a range of health issues.

Last November I was diagnosed with PCOS an underlying symptom of a very strong diabetic gene within my family, (though am not diabetic) I had been feeling quite ill for around 12 months going back and forth to the doctors.  It was some 18 months in total before I was diagnosed.  Since then I have been learning about my condition and learning how to manage it better.

My main concerns were the rapid weight gain and the feeling incredibly exhausted all the time, despite having a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.  I found it incredibly difficult to find the right care, medication and management.  After a 6 month stint at the gym, a healthy diet, I was still gaining weight rapidly after another visit to the doctor and weight loss tablets I was beginning to give up hope.  I was told that my PCOS was due to my weight gain... loose weight and everything will be fine!!! eventually I went to see another doctor who prescribed me anti diabetic drugs as he believed that it was my resistance to insulin that was causing my symptoms and weight gain.

The tablets have helped but I needed to do much more, so I looked to see if there were any specific foods that my body wasn't copying with.  After leaving the diabetic clinic absolutely speechless and even more confused about the right carbs and carb counting I was feeling at a loss.

So I turned to recognised experts such as Rachael Anne Hill in the form of her GI High Energy Cookbook and I have to say wow what a revelation,  the information that Rachael provides makes sense and is easy to understand.  When you read her book you understand how the body works and how it processes certain foods and just understanding that has helped me immensely. The book has clear guides to low, medium and high GI foods and the recipes are easy to follow and delicious.

Being wheat intolerant it is great to have such a wide variety of foods available and even tasty low GI deserts.
There is a section for entertaining too. I emailed Rachael to ask about recommended wheat free alternatives for the recipes that use wholemeal flour and Rachael came back to me almost immediately with some detailed advice and points of reference for useful information.  Wow you don't get that kind of response from some of our other experts.

I am finding Rachaels book to be extremely beneficial and whilst I have only been following her guidance for a short time I am already noticing the difference in the way I feel and the fact that my clothes are fitting me better.

I will keep you updated with progress, but I just wanted to say that weight gain isn't always about over eating or eating the wrong foods, sometimes there are underlying health problems... a PCOS sufferer can eat a normal calorie intake and still gain weight due to the bodies ineffectiveness to process certain foods.  For me eating the GI way is proving successful and I hope that eventually I may, with the doctors approval come off the medication all together.

Thank GOD for people like Rachael!!!
