Princess & The Pea

Welcome to another adventurous edition of the Tigerlily Makes Blog. As many of you know I have a great thirst and passion for traditional and imaginative fairy-tales. None more so that the likes of Alice in Wonderland, Narnia and many of the Grim Brothers fairy-tales to name but a few.

I am greatly inspired by their originality and the fact that many of these original fairy tales are still being enjoyed today, some 150 years on is testament to their to creative process.

So today I am sharing something extra special and something I am really proud of.

Introducing Princess & The Pea handmade hand felted and  & needle embellished bed and dressing table. This bed has been made up of several felted sheets that have been individually needle embellished and machine embroidered. each mattress has been machine stitched and stuffed using a safe and approved filling.

The bed base is an old dolls house bed that I pulled apart and reconfigured, whilst breathing new life into it with a paint effect.

The collection isn't complete yet, so watch this space as I add the princess and a miniature clothed mannequin. To get to this stage it took about a week to make.

This is just part of a whole collection of themed fairy-tale inspired designs.

My plan with this design is to create a min how to booklet in an easy to follow format so that you can try this yourself at home.

For now though its time to reveal the star attraction.

Lily Lamb Colouring & Activity Books have arrived...

Well I am quite literally squeeling with excitement and dancing like no one is watching over my latest creations!

Introducing the 24 page Lily Lamb colouring and activity book, beautiful outline drawings of my beloved Lily and Louis Lambs in their various guises. This colouring book is A4 in size and is designed to be slightly educational in its approach.

The first two pages will give you a colouring guide for all the Lily's and Louis's featured in the book, this will help children identify different colours and make decisions about their own colour choices. Pages 4 to 19 have a combination of single Lily or Louis Lambs with fun sayins such as, Lily Lamb says "Its fun to bake" as she stands proud waiting for you to colour in her bakers apron. Page 19 gives you a balnk page to draw your favorite Lily or Louis Lamb, page 20 is all about counting each different Louis and Lily lamb. Pages 21 & 22 will help with learning the lamb names with the Lambs themselves. Page 23 is a fun maze which will help Princess Lily Lamb find her way through the maze and back to the castle.

The final page is a fun educational story page, where you can fill in the blanks to complete the story.

Well enough of of all that, I guess I had better show you what all the fuss is about! LOL

Princess Lily Returns Home To The Palace & A Right Royal Birth!

Today Princess Lily brings you a very special post as she returns home to London to visit Buckingham Palace and to send her congratulations to the new royal parents and future king.

Sadly the royal flag was down and this meant that the “Queen” was not at home!!

There had obviously been a mix up over dates between Princess Lily’s management and the Queen’s management. This did not bode well for either our Queen, or our Princess!!

So what to do? Well, the only thing to do when you have “Right Royally” messed up is to stay toast to the new baby and have some fun - so when Ma’am is away Princess Lily will play!

You can see from the pictures that our lovely Lily quite literally lambed it about during her exploration of the Palace and Palace grounds. Though she is never more content than when she is outdoorsy and near the grass ..… she did however find one of the Queen’s Guards (obviously guarding the Palace) to create some mischief with. Although I fear The Royal Guard is not doing much guarding!

Princess Lily Networks!

My regular readers will know that our very own beautiful Princess Lily The Lamb loves nothing better than getting out and about whenever the opportunity arises.  She recently took a step away from her regular haunts of National Trust properties and country estates and embarked on her first ever business networking event!  

On a warm, sunny Wednesday morning in the upstairs room of Lichfield’s Spark Café Bar, 22 women and one Princess Lily gathered for the first meeting of the Lichfield Women’s Business Brunch group – a newly formed networking group which has been put together by several local business women following the demise of a national networking club they all belonged to.  

Lily looked very smart, sporting her brand new felty flower in her fleece and she was pleased to see a very good turnout for the first meeting, with a real buzz and lots of positive energy in the room – although at times her sensitive lamb ears were overcome with the volume of all those ladies!  

 

 

Lily was amazed at how powerful business networking can be.  Just by listening to what was being said, she learnt about 22 businesses, all local to Staffordshire and all run by women!  For some in the room it was their first networking event, whilst others were old hands at giving their 60 second(ish) pitch and extolling the virtues of their products or services.  

Lily picked up some valuable tips, which she’d love to share here with you.

 

• Don’t be nervous.  Everyone experiences their first networking event at some point.  Yes, it can be difficult talking in front of a room full of strangers but it will get easier over time
• Be yourself.  People buy from people and the best way to sell your business is to act naturally and get to know others in the room
• Take lots of business cards!  It may sound obvious but you’d be amazed at how many people go to a networking event without any ….
• Think before you speak.  Sometimes nerves can make us talk faster which makes it harder for others to understand what we’re saying.  Take a deep breath, stand up straight, shoulders back, chest out ……. and tell the room how great your business is!
• Respect the timings given.  Most networking groups give members 60 seconds to present their “elevator pitch”.  This doesn’t mean that you can talk for 10 minutes.
• Have an idea of what you want to achieve from the networking meeting before you even arrive at the venue.  Are you looking for new business within a certain sector?  Are you looking for someone who can help you with your business, such as an Accountant or VA?  Being prepared will be far more productive that “winging it”.
• After the event has finished, remember those follow-ups.  Too many of us are guilty of promising to connect and then never making that call or sending that email.  Following-up is the key to successful networking.

 

After a delicious brunch and learning more about local businesses, it was time to leave – Lily was exhausted!

Hello Princess Kitty Sox

Hello lovely makers, creators and all round lovely people... Today I thought I would introduce my gorgeous princess moggy Sox! Sox is a rescue cat, we had her from a teeny tiny kitten... She was living rough with her brother and her mother and sisters had already gone to Kitty heaven as they had all been run over! She was a very nervous kitten but with time and live she has become more approachable. She is still a very nervous cat, she won't sit on your lap, but she will snuggle next to you.

She is called Sox as she has 4 completely white paws against her velvety black coat like she's wearing little ankle socks.

We love her very much, she doesn't stray too far from home and loves to sleep anywhere other than her kitty bed!!
