It’s Farmhouse Breakfast Week this week folks. Breakfast is the most important meal of the
day so to celebrate the institution of the Great British Breakfast, here’s some
facts about everyone’s favourite – the egg:-
- There is a place in Switzerland called Egg with a population of just under 8000 people. There is another town called Egg in Austria with a population of just under 3500 people
- Eggs are an excellent source of protein, minerals and essential vitamins and can make significant contributions to healthy diets
- Approximately 10% of the egg contents are fat and this fat is almost entirely contained within the yolk. The good news is that only 3% is saturated fat
- A medium egg contains less than 80 calories
- Fresh eggs sink in water, stale ones float
